IBPOC Company in Residence

Prairie Theatre Exchange is inviting applications from Winnipeg-based IBPOC (Indigenous, Black, People of Colour) companies or ad hoc groups to be Company in Residence for the 2020-2021 season.

Our goal is to create a supportive and safe context within which IBPOC artists can create a new work or continue to develop a work or production in progress.  

This opportunity is one of support, and the relationship between the Company in Residence and PTE will be defined by the needs of the resident artists.

What PTE can offer
-Financial support of $5,000
-Creation and/or rehearsal space during the 2020-2021 season
-Mentorship (if requested) in the areas of:  administration/management, grant writing, marketing, production
-Artistic support (if requested) from our artistic director in areas of creation, dramaturgy, or performance

Who can apply?
-Any company or ad hoc group of artists who identify as IBPOC
-Artists creating in any discipline of the performing arts
-Emerging and/or mid-career creators
-Artists who are currently residents of Winnipeg

How to apply:
Please submit a proposal introducing your company including the individuals involved, your proposed project, and how you would use your time in residence to develop your work.

If you would like to discuss the residency, have any questions about what to include in your proposal, or would like an alternate means of proposing your project, we are available for discussion.

Selection process:
Prairie Theatre Exchange has engaged local theatre practitioners Cherissa Richards and Hazel Venzon to act as the selection committee for this process.
