PTE Festival of New Works

May 28 - 30, 2020
Experience the stage in a whole new way!

The PTE Festival of New Works is three days of staged readings of new plays and presentations of interdisciplinary works-in-progress, performed by some of Winnipeg’s most talented professional actors and companies. This is the launching pad that gave us How the Heavens Go, The Flats, Marriage: A Demolition in Two Acts, Social Studies, The Brink, and The Secret Mask, among many others.

You never know what you’ll see – but you’ll see it before anyone else!

FIRST NIGHT, FIRST LOOK
THURSDAY, MAY 28 at 7:00 PM

A fresh start to our annual Festival - be the first to experience a brand new play in development that is slated to premiere during the 2020-2021 season (we can't tell you more until we announce the new season on March 26). Meet the nationally renowned playwright and help shape their final stages of work with your feedback after the reading.
PLUS: a post-show reception with appetizers!

Admission by donation (suggested: $5)

Tickets will be available on April 1, 2020.

ALL FRIDAY & SATURDAY EVENTS ARE FREE ADMISSION!

Discussions with the playwrights will take place after each reading, while the Playwright’s Hat is passed – please consider contributing to support the artists.

A message from Ginny Collins (THE FLATS, PTE 2016)

"The reading of The Flats at the Fesitval of New Works (then called the Carol Shields Festival) was extremely valuable to my writing process. Just by watching and listening to the audience, I was able to gain incredible insight into how I needed to move forward with the script. This festival is a gift. It provides a rare opportunity for both the writer and the audience to share in the magic of the creation process."
