"You’re either born here, or you got a reason”
When the town doctor with the unsavoury past goes missing in Churchill, Manitoba, all trails lead to The Flats. Teetering on the edge of the Hudson’s Bay, this frozen strip of land becomes the focus of a search that unearths its strangest residents, some town secrets, and even a few ghosts. The Flats is a quirky exploration of what brings people to the edge of the world, where the polar bears are the least of your worries.
Setting: Churchill, Manitoba. A town of 800 on the edge of the Hudson Bay.
This play is a work of fiction. Its characters are not based on any persons living or dead...even the dead ones.
Running Time: approximately one hour 50 minutes
In partnership with Théâtre Cercle Molière
The Flats is performed by a bilingual cast and will be presented en français at Théâtre Cercle Molière March 2 - 18, 2017.
Bob Says: “Ginny Collins is a sharp, smart young Winnipeg writer with a deft touch for dark comedy and interesting characters. I’m looking forward to this play set in Churchill partly because of the quality of the writing, and partly because of the opportunity to partner with Théâtre Cercle Molière. It’s very exciting to be working with a bilingual cast and to be performing this play on both sides of the river.”
