The Year of Magical Thinking Book Club

Joan Didion’s seminal work The Year of Magical Thinking has been the choice of hundreds book clubs over the years, and PTE’s production of the play adapted by the author herself from her own book offers us the rare opportunity to dive into the book club world.

The PTE Book Club offers lovers of the book or those who are curious the opportunity to converse and discuss this beautiful and painstakingly personal examination of Didion’s first year of grief after she lost her husband.

PTE Book Club members receive:

⭐ The opportunity to purchase the book at a discount

⭐ Two discussion sessions in March before the play, led by Dr. Candida Rifkind, a professor in the Department of English at the University of Winnipeg, whose favourite book happens to be The Year of Magical Thinking!

⭐ A ticket to see the play at PTE for half price, and the ability to purchase a second ticket for the same discount

⭐  A follow-up session to discuss the stage VS the page, led by Rodrigo Beilfuss, the director of PTE's production and SIR's Artistic Director

⭐  A beverage at each of the sessions (wine or non-alcohol options)
