Portage Place Updates for PTE Patrons | Prairie Theatre Exchange

With construction in full swing at Portage Place, there have been changes to getting up to PTE on the 3rd floor.

Fear not - these are GOOD changes!

The biggest change: PTE now has additional elevator access!

Parking:
Park in either the blue section near Elevator 6 (our traditional elevator) OR park in the yellow section near Elevators 4 & 5 (our NEW access).

All those elevators will take you up to the 3rd floor. Elevator 6 opens on the same side as PTE. Elevators 4 & 5 open onto a lobby that has a yellow line on the floor. Follow that to get to PTE (a short walk). You can exit the same way!

We recommend that you give Elevators 4 & 5 a try – Elevator 6 sometimes gets backlogged.

Street Level:
The new street level entrance to the mall is located midway between Edmonton and Kennedy Streets on Portage Avenue (just down from the original main doors at Edmonton). Conveniently, it opens into a spacious lobby with Elevators 4 & 5. Go straight up to the 3rd floor and follow the yellow line to PTE. You can exit the same way!

Security:
Security in the parkade has been beefed up, with a security guard patrolling in a golf cart to keep an eye on things.

There is a security guard on duty in the lobby where the new street-level entry is located. We also have a new partnership with the Downtown Community Safety Patrol (DCSP) which will have a team stationed outside those doors, available for a walk to your car and to keep an eye on the bus stop.

In addition, True North has been adding security cameras in more locations, especially at the doors and elevators.

Signage:
We have increased Prairie Theatre Exchange signage throughout the mall, parkade and elevators to help guide you on your path to the theatre.

We're very excited about the direction that Portage Place is heading in, and although the road might be slightly bumpy as we get used to these changes, the journey will be worthwhile. Thank you for coming along with us!
