Empty-nesters Alice and Robert are getting their affairs in order. Tonight, they host a hysterically awkward dinner party with a couple they’ve never met before — two pairs of strangers fumbling through small talk and the careful choreography of an evening that feels slightly off balance. Then, with a surprising twist, everything shifts. What began as a simple attempt at connection becomes something far deeper, binding the four of them together into a lexical gap: a situation with no name—a relationship with no easy definition.

Written by PTE/MAP Playwrights Unit alumna Samantha Machado, The Incomplete Dictionary of Lexical Gaps marks an exciting debut from a remarkable new voice.
